Per la sua conformazione è una città fatta a scale (c’è chi scende e c’è chi sale), anzi scalette: passaggi acciottolati e fiancheggiati da muretti, talvolta ripidi e talvolta stretti (talvolta entrambe le cose!), che in passato venivano usati principalmente da contadini, ma anche dagli abitanti di Bergamo per arrivare più in fretta da un punto all’altro della città senza dover percorrere tutta la strada.
